I made a walkthrough of my process for drawing faceted stones! Judging by the timestamps from the screenshots I took, drawing this one stone took an hour and three minutes, although I know I went and checked tumblr a couple times while I was working, so let’s just call it an hour.

Now MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

  • This walkthrough assumes you already know how to use layer masks, the clone stamp, and the lasso tool. There’s also one part where I didn’t label it, but I inverted the selection so I could keep my lines consistent. It’s in the third image.
  • Unfortunately I can’t really help with colour choice and the actual colouring of the pinwheel shape that makes up the back facets, but you can kind of see that I tended to colour with lines that cut across the facets and and kept the outer parts of the facets darker. It would probably be best to find a reference to work from!
  • This particular cut of stone is called the ‘brilliant’ cut.
  • There’s actually a lot of internal reflection business that goes on in a stone, but I elected to ingore all of it since at a distance you can’t really tell anyway.

now GO FORTH AND DAZZLE YOUR FRIENDS WITH YOUR SPARKLE

Did you know that there were Human Zoos on display in Europe and America from the 1870’s to the 1950’s? These public exhibits of humans, often called Negro Villages, usually showed indigenous people in a so-called natural or primitive state. The displays often emphasized the cultural differences between Europeans of Western civilization and non-European peoples. Above is a photo from Amsterdam Holland around 1890, of an African child in one of these Human Zoo exhibits, being fed like an animal by white spectators.

What in all the fucks?!

Reasons why that pet my hair shit and all that isn’t cute. I didn’t know these places existed until the 50s tho, jeez. Fucking sick. And that baby is just a beautiful child that’s so terrible

Why you can’t pet my hair
Why you aren’t bringing me in to shit
Why the rhetoric of curating and introducing grown as people is iffy as FUCK
Please note 1950 as a date of continuance. They were doing this while my mom was ALIVE. And while civil rights was started.

White history.

1950. Just before my dad was born. When my grandparents were in their 20s/30s. But y’all wanna talk about ancestors like there aren’t living breathing racists walking around. Racism is shit you learned from your fucking grandparents and parents and uncles and shit. That shit didn’t fall out of the sky. That shit isn’t encoded in your DNA. Learned behavior. Just like how you learned to walk.
Some of your grandparents probably went to a “zoo” like this. brb vomiting.

Cosplay 101: Coloring Your Eyebrows by MangoSirene

In which I play with paint and glue and make really stupid puns, too! ;D

I have tried a number of methods but my eyebrows - the hairs are so thick that I honestly just trim them down close to the skin (but the hair is still there and has some length to it, it just thins it out), put foundation/powder foundation over it before colouring it in.  It’s the method that works best for me :D

I like using both methods depending on the wig but very good and easy tutorial!

Here, a reason of many why I will miss Matt terribly.  He gets it.  This gesture is perfectly that of the little boy who loses something precious.  Sure he’s not a boy, but what I love about Eleven/the Doctor is that there are so many elements of a child in him.  After all he’s somewhere around a thousand years old.  He’s dealt with so many joys and so many pains.  Bound to make you kind of backwards forwards, right?
But it’s the actor who totally goes deep inside and recalls being the child who swings their legs back and forth and gets that aspect of the nearly ageless timelord.  It’s Matt, being true.  And this is why I will miss him so much.
He is total at his craft.
